Old Caerlaverock Castle

The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Old Caerlaverock Castle was built by the Maxwell family in the late 13th century and is remembered for its strategic role in border conflicts between England and Scotland. It was later replaced by the more substantial Caerlaverock Castle, which also fell to the English in 1300 during Robert the Bruce's campaign.
