What is recorded here

Nine ogham stones stand railinged at Kilcoolaght, but the seventh is the smallest and the most damaged. Its top is gone, its bottom buried, and the names carved across the break have vanished into the missing stone. What remains is two-thirds of a sentence, trembling at the edge of being remembered.

National Monument No. 329. One of 7, or possibly 8, ogham stones at Kilcoolaght Burial Ground/Cill Chuallachta (KE065-003001-), inside iron railings erected in the 1940s. Brash also recorded a tradition that a church (KE065-003003-) formerly stood on a rectangular area of untilled ground ‘a few yards from the cilleen'. No trace of this church is now apparent.' This stone stands .76m high and measures .24m x .2m at base. Inscribed on all four angles, it features two inscriptions which probably continued across its now missing upper portion. The characters of the second inscription are more finely cut than those of the first, but both are clearly decipherable. Macalister (1945, 202, no. 206) read them as: ANM VIRR[. . .]ANNI TIGIRN and CEDATTOQA MAQI VEDELMET[T]. The initial AN of ANM, some of the R scores and -N of TIGIRN are below current ground level (2015 visit).
