Ogham stone in Ballyhank

Discovered in 1846 built into a Man-made underground passage (CO085-067002-) with five other ogham stones (CO085-067003-; CO085-067004-; CO085-067005-; CO085-067006-; CO085-067008-), now in the collection of the National Museum of Ireland (see DU018-373----). It is a roughly-squared stone (1.4m; 0.5m x 0.4m) with an inscription, which Macalister (1945, 98, no. 101) gave as MAQI-ESEA MAQI DOMANEQI, on the angle between the two which bear the main inscription are cut what Macalister (ibid.) describes as 'a line of enigmatic characters'. (Power et al. 1997, no. 7952) This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
