Nunney Castle in Somerset was built in the late 14th century by Sir Piers Legh of Manchester, a loyal follower of King Richard II. It is remembered as a well-preserved example of a late medieval moated castle and as a symbol of the political tensions of the time, reflecting the rewards given to royal supporters during the reign of Richard II.
