Not indciated is an octagonal armorial plaque from the tomb of Sir Thomas Cusack, bearing Cussack and Darcy arms and the date 1571. It was kept at Staffordstown church in County Meath, possibly after the church became a Cussack mortuary chapel in the late 16th century. The plaque is now missing, leaving behind a gap where a family’s pride and death should still be visible.

Hickey (1971, 77-8) contends that the church at Staffordstown (ME032-001----) might have been re-dedicated in the late 16th century as a mortuary chapel of the Cussacks of Lismullin since an octagonal armorial stone (diam. c. 0.8m) from the tomb of Sir Thomas Cusack (1490-1571) at Trevet (ME038-017002-) was kept here but the stone is now missing.
