Part of the trunk (L 0.755m; diam. 0.23m) of a yew tree found 0.13m below the surface of the bog at a drain face. It ran into the bog at an incline so that the lower end of the object lay 0.28m below the bog surface and the piece narrowed as it inclined into the peat. It was underlain by a thin lens of yellow silt (Wth 0.7m; D 0.02m) with a very thin intervening layer of sphagnum. The silt layer extended beyond the trunk in all directions. Both ends of the object had been trimmed to very shallow points. The upper surface was more intensively worked. All bark had been removed. In conversion, this object was an irregular roundwood, evidenced by the centre of the parent tree which lies closeby. Its function remains unknown.
