What is recorded here
Not idicated, Grange (annaghdown Ed) may have been a small castle in County Galway, but no exact place survives for it. Walter boy held one Grange castle in 1574, while another Grange castle belongs elsewhere in Clare. The name still points to a house powerful enough to be remembered, yet thin enough to hide behind two townlands.
Nolan (1901, 119) records that a castle in Grange townland, in the barony of Clare, was in the possession of 'Walter boy' in 1574. Not located. See also GA044-098---- as there are two Grange townlands in the barony.
