Norah Elam was born in Blackrock, Dublin, on 5 March 1878 before becoming a famous British militant. She left that Irish childhood behind to break windows, starve in Holloway, and write speeches for Christabel Pankhurst. The girl from a Dublin paper-mill family became one of the sharpest weapons of the suffragette storm.
