Explorer Tom Thornhill’s Nith Bridge Cross smells like old rain and regret, which is exactly what you want from a medieval stone marker. It’s been standing there looking grumpy since the early medieval period, probably wondering why we haven’t given it a haircut yet. Have a wander and a wonder.
Explorer Tom Nith Bridge has a stone ball sitting there like it’s waiting for a bus that hasn’t come since the Neolithic era. It’s the kind of object that would absolutely steal your wallet and then feel guilty about it afterwards. Perfect for when you need to think about how round things are. Stop the car, it's worth the hazard lights.
Explorer Tom Closeburn Castle was nearly sold for a horse, which would have been a terrible trade. Now it’s just a medieval tower house wondering if it got the better deal. The elusive nature is part of the charm, I think. Best enjoyed with a bag of chips and no plans.
