This commemorative plaque records: At the rear of Lloyds Bank is the last known resting place of Nipper the famous HMV dog
Nipper was a terrier-type dog who gained fame for his pose of cocking his head to listen to a gramophone, which inspired the HMV logo; he is buried here and remembered for his iconic representation in advertising.
