Niall Ó Dónaill, born in 1908 in Ailt an Eidhinn, Loughanure, County Donegal, Ireland, dedicated his life to shaping the Irish language through lexicography and literature. He edited the widely used 1977 Irish-English dictionary Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla and wrote books capturing the stories and history of Loughanure and the Rosses. His work preserved local voices and gave clarity to the language, earning him national recognition including a D.Litt. from Trinity College Dublin in 1982.
