What is recorded here
Walled garden, extant 1839, on a rectangular plan with part creeper- or ivy-covered coursed rubble stone boundary wall to perimeter having rubble stone rounded coping. Restored, 2004. Set in landscaped grounds shared with Newtownbarry House.
A walled garden not only contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Newtownbarry House estate, but also surviving as an interesting relic of the preceding Woodfield estate sold (1854) by Somerset Richard Maxwell (1803-84), eighth Baron Farnham, through the Encumbered Estates Court (cf. 15602008; 15602010 - 15602012).
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
