Newcastle Church (Newcastle Lower) — Report the wrong picture

Detached three-bay single-storey sexton's house, built c.1830 to serve nearby Newcastle Church. The façade is finished in unpainted roughcast, whilst the gable-ended pitched roof is covered in artificial slate and has a centrally positioned rendered chimneystack. The entrance consists of a timber door set within a pointed arch opening, which itself is set directly beneath a small gable with decorative bargeboards. The windows are flat-headed with lattice-paned timber casement frames. The windows to the south elevation appear to be c.1980s insertions and have timber frames with top-hung openers. uPVC rainwater goods. To front is a small garden enclosed by a low rubble wall, with a gateway with wrought-iron gate and square, pyramidal-capped piers.

This sexton's lodge, now known as "Church Cottage", is well preserved and is a valuable, and now somewhat scarce, example of its type.
