New Luce, Lady Well

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records New Luce, Lady Well as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

New Luce Lady Well is associated with the veneration of the Virgin Mary and was a site of pilgrimage and healing in medieval Scotland. Local tradition holds that the well's waters had curative properties, particularly for women's ailments, and it was likely visited on significant feast days such as May 1st and August 15th (Assumption of Mary).
