Naze Tower, Walton-on-the-Naze was built in the early 16th century by Sir John Petre, a prominent Tudor courtier and Lord High Treasurer, as a coastal defense and family residence. It is important as one of the few surviving examples of early 16th-century artillery towers in England and marks a key site in the history of coastal fortifications.
