The Natural History Museum at Tring was founded in 1894 by Frederick John Jackson, a British zoologist and museum curator, and originally housed his extensive collection of bird specimens. It is important as one of the few remaining museums that showcase 19th-century natural history collections and as a centre for the study and preservation of global biodiversity.
