Cawdor Castle Golf Course appeared in 1976 beside one of Scotland's oldest castles. It is a small, sharp reminder that even ancient stone must share its land with ordinary pleasure. Swing a ball through Highland air and the castle watches without judging.

Cawdor Castle, near Nairn, was built by the MacKenzies of Kintail in the 14th century and later held by the Campbells of Cawdor from the 17th century. It is historically significant for its association with Shakespeare's *Macbeth* and its well-preserved architecture.
