What is recorded here

Cawdor Castle stands in Highland, Scotland, marked as a castle from 1058 AD to 1900 AD. Glass beads recovered there still glint in dark soil, suggesting trade, gift or burial long before the stone rooms rose. The castle may have guarded a valley road, hosted travellers or hidden people during storms. Its age and the small bright beads make it a place where human hands kept returning across centuries.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cawdor Castle as Bead(s) (glass)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Cawdor Castle in Scotland was built by the Clan Mackenzie in the 16th century and later held by the Campbell family after a siege in 1647. It is remembered for its historical associations with Shakespeare's *Macbeth* and its well-preserved architecture.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
