Murragh Church (in Ruins)

In SE quadrant of graveyard (CO109-086---) part of wall running E-W forc.10m. Described as "in pretty good repair" in 1699 but new church built in Farranthomas in 1810 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 219-23). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). Murragh Church was likely built in the 17th century, with parts of its wall still standing in the southeast quadrant of the graveyard; its exact builder and dedication are unknown, but it was described as "in pretty good repair" in 1699 before being superseded by a new church in Farranthomas in 1810.
