Murchad mac Diarmata

Murchad mac Diarmata, born in Leinster, died in 1070 after a wound received during a raid into Meath, leaving behind three sons and a new clan identity. The Annals of the Four Masters record his burial at Áth Cliath on the festival of Mary, capturing the sudden emptiness his death created in the fortress. His life remains a sharp reminder that royal ambition often ends in a single wound, transforming a local king into the ancestor of the Meic Murchada.
