What is recorded here

Hot stones, boiling water, meat for a crowd. A burnt mound is a kitchen that forgot to leave the room. People cooked there across ages, feeding the living and perhaps the dead.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MULTIPERIOD SETTLEMENT SITE - NEOLITHIC, BRONZE AGE HOUSES & BURIAL GROUND, & COOKING PLACE (BURNT MOUND/FULACHT FIADH) see also Dow 030:037. Recorded period: NEOLITHIC; PREHISTORIC; BRONZE AGE. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

Neolithic and Bronze Age settlement site with houses, burial ground, and a burnt mound (fulacht fiadh). It reflects long-term habitation and ritual activity in the region during the prehistoric period.
