Gateway, erected c.1850, comprising ornate double-leaf cast-iron vehicular gate set to openwork cast-iron piers, with sinusoidal-plan curvilinear matching cast-iron railings, terminating in square-profile openwork cast-iron piers. Maker's insignia 'C.JONES / MAKERS / BELFAST' to railings at south-east. Single-leaf pedestrian gate at north-west, with similar detailing. Set at entrance to Mullaghmore House.

This ornate nineteenth-century entrance to Mullaghmore House is an example of fine craftsmanship in decorative ironwork. It is notable that the quality masonry evident in the adjacent gate lodge and house is not employed here, with cast-iron being used for the complete gateway, creating a sense of light and airiness at the entrance which helps form the impression of the house itself. This entrance adds technical and aesthetic interest to the landscape. It forms a group with the country house and the gate lodge.
