Muckle Knees rises to approximately 300 metres and is part of the rugged terrain of the Scottish Borders. Its name, derived from Scots for "big knees," may reflect local folklore or the angular, knobbly appearance of its summit. The hill contributes to the regional identity and landscape character of the area.
