A mound (Wth c. 15m; H 0.7-0.8m), surrounded by wet marshy ground was noted in 2012, N of an area being monitored in advance of development and may represent a burnt mound or fulacht fia (Fitzpatrick and Rooney 2012, 15; pers. comm. A fulacht fia (burnt mound) dating to the Early Medieval period; associated with domestic or ritual activities involving heat. Its significance lies in providing insight into prehistoric settlement and land use in the region.
