Mound in Glenmore East is a large artificially formed earthen ridge near Glenquin Castle, locally called the Big Man's Bed or giant's grave. It is the kind of place children might have crawled across at dusk, imagining a fallen giant snoring beneath the soil while adults walked past with their hands in their pockets. The ridge still belongs to Glenmore East, carrying that old joke of size and sleep into ordinary life.

According to Begley (1906, 21), in the townland of Glenmore, near Glenquin Castle (LI044-035---), 'is a large earthen ridge, artificially formed and known as the Big Man's Bed, or giant's grave'. Exact location of this feature not known. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
