The wall footings of a medieval church (OF014-029008-) was discovered during an excavation carried out in the late 1930's (Kendrick 1939, 1-20). This church was the site of mound prior to excavation. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
