Dromkeen West holds a fox fort where a sub-circular bank of earth and stone still stands in a field corner, facing south, east and west. Inside its northern edge lies a small oblong mound, barely higher than a person’s knee, yet large enough to mark the ground as lived-in rather than empty. The name suggests a child’s game or a boundary joke, but the view suggests a watcher, a keeper or a family that chose this ridge because it could see far.

Fox fort. Univallate ringfort KE015-005---- is situated in the corner of a field NE of KE015-006----. An excellent view is afforded from this site, especially to the S, E and W. This ringfort consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank of earth and stone construction. I In the N sector of the interior is an oblong mound (KE015-005002-), 4.6m x 2.4m externally and .6m high. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
