Mound in Cowpark

Mound

What is recorded here

Killeen Church still stands in County Limerick, but the mound recorded beside it has vanished from the land and every picture taken since. It may have been buried under soil, cut away for farmwork or never properly seen at all. What is certain is that the place lost one of its markers, leaving behind only a gap where a shape should be.
The National Museum of Ireland topographical files for Killeen Church (LI011-065001-) recorded that to the NE of the church there is a mound 20ft [6.5m] in diameter. No mound is visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph. No surface remains visible of any mound in area to NE of church. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 23 April 2018 See attached ASI aerial photograph ASIAP – taken on 04/03/2006.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
