What is recorded here

Two small mounds sit inside and beside a raised ringfort in Ballyhemikin, County Kerry. The central mound measures about two by two point six metres, while a second lies two metres southeast at one point eight by three point six metres. They may have marked a home, a burial or a boundary, but their size and closeness suggest ordinary human life rather than grand ceremony.

The interior [of ringfort (KE015-094----)] is at a higher level than the surrounding land, and in the centre is a small mound (KE015-094001-), 2m x 2.6m internally. About 2m SE of this rath is another small mound (KE015-094002-), 1.8m x 3.6m, which could be connected to the fort. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’.
