Mortlach, the Battle Stone

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mortlach, the Battle Stone as Cross Slab (early Medieval), Pictish Symbol Stone (pictish). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dated to the early medieval period, likely Pictish in origin (circa 5th–9th century AD), the stone may commemorate a local battle or serve as a territorial marker.
