Freestanding cut-limestone Celtic Cross-style cross, dated 1880, on repointed pyramidal base on repointed plinth. Set on traffic island.
A cross 'RESTORED [1880] BY THE TOWN COMMISSIONERS' representing an important component of the built heritage of New Ross [SMR WX029-013075-]: meanwhile, a much-weathered benchmark remains of additional interest for the connections with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey (established 1824).
