Monefelim Bridge

Three-arch rubble limestone road bridge over river, c.1825. Repaired, c.1975. Random squared rubble limestone walls with tooled limestone ashlar triangular cut-waters to piers, ivy-clad parapet having cut-limestone coping, and replacement concrete block parapet, c.1975, to west. Series of three segmental arches with dressed limestone voussoirs, and rubble stone soffits having traces of render over. Sited spanning Monefelim River with grass banks to river.

Representing an element of the early nineteenth-century civil engineering of the locality a well-composed modest-scale bridge displaying a traditional construction in locally-sourced stone forms a pleasing focal point at a crossing over the Monefelim River.
