Moel Famau rises to approximately 593 metres and is the highest point in the Clwydian Range, a prominent upland area in north-east Wales. It is composed mainly of Silurian greywacke and is associated with local folklore, including legends of a giant named Famu. The hill matters as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and for its role in the cultural and natural heritage of the region.
