What is recorded here
Raruddy West holds two possible moated sites twenty-five metres apart, a tower house one hundred and seventy metres east and a cashel one hundred and twenty-eight metres north-west. That much clutter in one pasture suggests a valued boundary, repeated or shared rather than singular. The main enclosure measures about fifty-seven by forty-seven metres, large enough for buildings, keeping rooms and several people. Whatever water once sharpened its edge has gone quiet under grass, leaving a rectangle the land still remembers.
In pastureland. This rectangular enclosure (c. 57m NNE-SSW; c. 47m ENE-WSW) was brought to the attention of the Survey by Jean-Charles Caillère who identified it on Google Earth satellite imagery dated March 2011. Possibly a moated site. Another moated site (GA105-182----) lies in the same field, c. 25m to the W and a tower house (GA105-178----) lies c. 170m to the ENE. There is also a cashel (GA105-180----) c. 128m to the NNW.
