Grangeford held a rectangular enclosure measuring fifty by forty metres, visible on maps until destruction around 1950 reduced it to a low mound. The lost water and earth likely formed a defensive border for someone who valued privacy or feared neighbours. What remains is a subtle ridge, waiting for imagination to complete the shape of the house, garden or prison that once stood there.
