Moated site

What is recorded here

On a W-facing slope in pastureland. This well-preserved moated site (39.2m N-S; 33.9m E-W int.) is defined by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.5-3m; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 2.2-3m) and an external fosse (Wth 3.6-6.2m). A gap at NE appears to be modern. The bank is overgrown with trees and bushes. The fosse is wet and marshy except at W where it has silted up and is filled with stones and earth from the bank. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 3 December 2019
