Subedar Mir Dast 1874‒1945 V.C. I.O.M. O.B.I. 55th Coke's Rifles, attached to 57th Wilde's Rifles FF. Received the Victoria Cross from King George V in 1915 at the Royal Pavilion Military Hospital, for bravery at Ypres.
Subedar Mir Dast was a decorated Indian soldier who received the Victoria Cross for his bravery during the First World War, specifically at the Second Battle of Ypres in 1915. He was one of the first Indian soldiers to be awarded the Victoria Cross and was personally presented with it by King George V in 1915 at the Royal Pavilion Military Hospital in Brighton.
