In the vicinity of Old Bridge. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) the town 'hath the Accomodation of a stone bridge together with two Greist mills on the same' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 385, 388). In the Settlement of 1666 a colonel Booker was granted a mill in Bridge St. formerly the property of Thomas White fitz Mathew (Burke 1907, 260). It is possible that one of these mills was the 'Manor Mill' which was rebuilt as a creamery, although according to Lyons (1936, 291), this was 'essentially a part of the South [Bridge] Gate'. There is no visible trace of these mills (TS083-019015- and TS083-019101-) above ground. The precise location of these mills is unknown (Farrelly and FitzPatrick 1993, 79-80).
