Middleark Scar is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The scar is notable for its exposure of durable limestone strata, which reflect the region's geological history of shallow tropical seas and subsequent uplift during the Variscan orogeny.
