South of Skeam church on the island in Roaring Water Bay, a hidden midden waited beneath the soil. Men digging to strengthen the church walls broke through centuries of forgotten life, uncovering shells and pottery from the 16th and 17th centuries. The bay had swallowed human traces, yet the earth kept them safe until curiosity pried them open.

To the S of Skeam church (CO149-011002-), on Skeam island in Roaring Water Bay. Excavation, in advance of the buttressing of the church walls, uncovered the remains of a shell midden.
