Midden in Monteensudder

On the S face of an earthen bank (H 0.8m), which is being eroded by the sea, on the S shore of Corriveillaun. A horizontal layer (L 1.1m; H 0.2m) of black soil incorporating oyster shells, periwinkles and limpets and interspersed with tree and shrub roots, is visible in section in the earthen bank. The top of the layer is 0.2m below ground level. Another shell midden (CO104-038001-) lies 1.5m to the SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
