Man-made underground passage in Cappyaughna

On a steep and densely wooded S-facing slope within Glengarriff National Park. The entrance to a possible Man-made underground passage was noted here in 1993 on an eroded earthen mound which had been damaged by badger burrowing (pers. comm. Connie Murphy). In 2004 the area was so densely overgrown with rhododendrons that the possible Man-made underground passage could not be located. Two enclosures (CO090-032001-, CO090-032002-) lie c. 40m to the N and c. 60m to the E, respectively. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
