What is recorded here

A sizeable shell midden exposed in section at the coastline, beneath a series of sand-dunes at the E side of Fermoyle island, on the S side of Brandon Bay. It extends over a distance of c. 34m and is c. 0.8m deep. It is composed of a layer of dark brown soil containing charcoal, burnt stones, and shells, mainly of cockle.
