Midden in Corkbeg

On Corkbeg island. According to Power (1940, 98) 'prehistoric shell mounds, portions or traces of which appear in several places on the banks - in vicinity of the castle' (CO088-030---). Destroyed; oil storage tanks on site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
