What is recorded here
Mícheál Ó Lócháin was born in Curraghderry, County Galway, on 29 September 1836. He carried the voice of that place across the ocean, where he taught Irish in New York classrooms and founded the Philo-Celtic Society. His work showed that a language lost in one country can be rebuilt in another, keeping the minds and memories of Ireland alive wherever its people gather.
