Michael O'Hanrahan was born in New Ross, County Wexford, on 17 March 1877. He became a leading Irish rebel, fought in the 1916 Easter Rising, and was executed by firing squad in Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, on 4 May 1916. His life moved from a small Wexford town to national danger, giving the birthplace a sharper edge of memory.
