Araglyn hid a charcoal-burning ironworks where Boyle erected two furnaces in 1625, drawing ore from nearby mines. New works appeared around 1740 to make bar iron, but the exact spot has vanished. The river head may still shadow the place where smoke once choked the sky and metal sang hot.

According to McCracken (1957, 128), there was a charcoal-burning ironworks at Araglyn 'Somewhere towards the head of the river...' where '...Boyle erected two furnaces in 1625 using ore from his father-in-law's nearby mines...'. New works were erected here about 1740 for making bar iron (ibid.). The exact location of this metalworking site is unknown.
