Jacobus Shee served as cathedral procurator in 1647, a year when Kilkenny faced civil war and starvation. His name still stands in false relief within a sunken cross on the cathedral wall, small beside the great stones but clear enough to read. He may have bought bread, paid masons or simply kept the temple accounts while danger closed around the city. The plaque turns a forgotten job into a visible life, showing that even ordinary service can survive when written down.

Incorporated in the S face of the wall surrounding St Canice’s Cathedral (KK019-026029-) and graveyard (KK019-026171-), immediately E of the SE entrance. A rectangular limestone plaque with an inscription in Latin in Roman Capitals. The inscription is in false relief within a sunken cruciform-shaped recess. The inscription reads: R. D. JACOBUS SHEE PROCURATOR TEMPLI 1647.
