White stones still mark the grave of a giant in Ballyalbanagh, though no human hand shaped them. They belong to the prehistoric dark, when people laid rocks across death and forgot the names of the dead. The chamber waits beneath soil and moss, unchanged since before writing, before kings, before mercy. What was buried there has stopped being important. The stones keep the shape of the event, not the event itself.
