Megalithic tomb in Fálach

Megalithic tomb

What is recorded here

Fálach holds one of Ireland’s oldest visible chambers, where giant stones still lean across the land like the ribs of a forgotten house. It belongs to the deep megalithic age, before written records and before many modern borders, when people shaped stone with patience instead of tools we can no longer imagine. The tomb does not need a dramatic story to feel alive; it keeps the older human habit of marking death, memory and continuity in the earth itself.

Portal dolmen; dates to the Neolithic period, approximately 3000–2500 BCE. Its significance lies in contributing to the understanding of megalithic funerary practices in western Ireland.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
